I'm surprised there isn't a description for Coldwater Trail, which is essentially the backbone trail in Estrella Mountain Regional Park. So, here goes...
Hike
From the southeast corner of the huge gravel rodeo arena parking lot, head past the tube steel vehicle gate, south on Coldwater Trail (the wide gravel road). In a mile, there is a secondary horse lot.

Coldwater crosses Dysart Trail a ¼ mile past the red reflective diamonds. There is a memorial rest bench at the Dysart intersection.
Coldwater Trail continues to narrow as it climbs 220 ft. in the next mile to a saddle on the southwest slope of Knobb Hill. The saddle has good views south into the heart of the Sierra Estrella.
And... that's it. Pretty easy. Either head back the way you came, or for longer options, east on the deep gravel of Gadsden Trail, south onto eight-mile-long Pedersen Trail, or back north on Toothaker Trail.
Gate Policy: If a gate is closed upon arrival, leave it closed after you go through. If it is open, leave it open. Leaving a closed gate open may put cattle in danger. Closing an open gate may cut them off from water. Please be respectful, leave gates as found. The exception is signage on the gate directing you otherwise.
WARNING! Hiking and outdoor related sports can be dangerous. Be responsible and prepare for the trip. Study the area you are entering and plan accordingly. Dress for the current and unexpected weather changes. Take plenty of water. Never go alone. Make an itinerary with your plan(s), route(s), destination(s) and expected return time. Give your itinerary to trusted family and/or friends.
To hike Head west on I-10 to Exit 126. Then go south on Estrella Parkway for 5.0 miles. Just over the Gila River, turn left onto Vineyard Ave. In a half-mile, turn right into the park, onto Casey Abbot Dr. After paying the entrance fee, stay on the same road for 2.0 more miles, as it turns south, eventually ending at the rodeo arena.
