I would love to join you. I have done this hike twice in recent years. I am not young, just turned 65 and not nearly as spry as I once was. That said my feelings will not be hurt if you opt for younger sprier folks.

I have only been to Shiva Saddle. We used a GPS to go cross country to the drop off . It is sort of trail like here and there. Not too difficult but slow. You need to carry lots of water unless you are very sure it has rained recently. mary

There has been a fall in Jackass--I have not seen it but I hear it is no longer passable.

I was looking over the Hike Index this evening and noticed that several well known Grand canyon hikes are missing. Some of you hotshots that know how to type should add them.

I think I will stick to game trails when I can. The game happily trudge along on people trails so we can't scare them much. I see their sign all the time. The crust on untrampled ground is so fragile you can see footprints made in it years later.

I have never owned anything but down so I don't know anything about synthetics. We owned Blue Kazoos for years and replaced them when they died with Western Mountaineering Ultralights.
