Re: 2022 Fire Season
These fires north of Flagstaff hit near where I grew up. It’s been bothersome looking at Shultz Peak when I go back there to visit. Growing up with beautiful forests covering the peaks now burnt up pines. My parents had to deal with the floods and luckily the floods didn’t hit their house. Now over ...

I saw that that rafting the canyon will not stop and those who are already backpacking will be able to finish their trips.

I have a cookout at the White Tanks with Arizonahiker.com on that date, but would still love to get that CD. Is there some way you can mail me it or something? Davis###### you live on Greenway don't you? If you can maybe you can get an extra one and we can arange to meet so you can hand it off to me.

I'm glad that you made this trip report, I was hoping you would. I really wanted to hear your side of the hike since you went out alone. It was really nerve racking sitting in the car waiting for you as every 1/2 hour went by. I came to the conclusion that you might of got injured and the other 2 fo...

I too have to say that was the most intense hike I have ever been on and the scariest. I think the worst part was when that rock came hurling towards me almost took my head off. That would of jacked me up bad. I still sit in shock wondering how it went around me only hitting my finger. I wont be see...

Thanks for your input everyone. After your info and the great people at REI I ordered the Garmin Vista. Cheapest place I found it was $150 after shipping at GPSnow.com $150, wow, thats a great price. I saw it for $300. I really like my Vista. It does so much, the only pain was learning how to use i...

I'm totally fine with the cold. Growing up in Flagstaff I had to deal with it and did a bit of hiking in the snow. I even attempted Mt. Elden in the snow more than once. I've blazed the trail from the parking lot just after a good storm before. Other times where the trail in the snow quite from othe...

I have the Garmin Vista. It cost about $300. I was fortunate, it was given to me. It uses 2 batteries and goes through them like none other. A set of batteries lasts about 11 hours. I think that is the only downfall. There is so much stuff on it that I don't know what it is all for. I don't know how...

Yeah, 5 of us showed up. We left the gas station at 9:30. Next time you use this as the meeting point add a few more details about it. I did not see the gas station, it just looked like a market place to me and I passed it and kept on going for more than a mile. I turned around and decided to see if...

With this hike being mainly off trail who is going to be out there counting to make sure we are under 15 people? does it really matter? It just seems silly to me. As far as the snow...I did Browns Peak last year with about 3 feet of snow in the scree chute. It was doable, but was just about the scar...

Compairing this to Humpherys Peak is a really bad compairison. I personally think that Browns Peak itself is alot more rigerouse. I know that this hike as a whole is going to be much more strenouse. Ok, I'm at 7th street and loop 101. I noticed there was a few meeting places, which would be the clos...

I think this is something I'd like to attempt with you all. The only thing is that it depends on if I get the day off or not. It's too late to request it off, so I'd just have to get lucky. I won't know until Monday. I live in North Pheonix and would rather car pool even if that means to drive to Po...

I just bought a pair right before my backpacking trip in Colorado. I did not want to face those mountains without a stick of some sort. My first hike with them was up Camelback Mountain. I took both of them and hated having 2 sticks. Since then I have only carried one with me. I found it quite usefu...
