Is high clearance or 4WD required to go to Picketpost trailhead?

Robbers Roost - from Cave vs. WB Saddle?

Howdy All! I'm planning on hiking the cave trail up to robbers roost and down west boulder saddle. Is this direction just as easy to navigate as coming up from west boulder saddle? I would rather go down west boulder saddle, and I would like to go up cave, but I can switch if it easier to get to Rob...

Re: Bees in Wave Cave?

We saw hardly any bees in/near the cave. I didn't see a hive there, but maybe I wasn't looking closely enough. Usually, you can hear a hive!! :) I guess all the bees were busy in those EXTREME wildflowers...! :D

Bees in Wave Cave?

Anyone been by the Wave Cave recently? I am planning on heading out there tomorrow, and some of my group are rather bee phobic... It would help to know if there is a hive there!

Thanks!!

Forest Service Website - Flakey???

Has anyone else noticed that the Forest Service Website is now flakey? I used to think it was easy to use, and there were maps to the trails, trailheads and campgrounds. Now I cannot seem to locate some of these maps any longer. I thought maybe they weren't available, but when I looked at the trip d...

Peralta Trailhead Fee?

Is there a fee to park at the Peralta Trailhead? I thought there was, but in the HAZ directions section it says it is "now free"? I know it was free when I first moved here 10 years ago, and I know it turned into a fee area ... is it back to a free parking area? Or is it a fee area? Thanks...

How about starting next week? I suggest Wednesday, Feb 2 at 11:45am. The access to the trailhead is on the southwest side of "A" Mountain. The easiest way to locate it is that it is off the "overflow" parking section of the Tempe Mission Palms parking lot (when you turn into the ...

Quickie "A" Mountain jaunt during lunchtime?

I am wondering if anyone works/goes to school around the ASU area, and wants to do a twice up and down "A" mountain jaunt during lunchtime. I figure it would be more fun with some company, and I would be less likely to scam out and be a slug. ;) The weather is such that I figure this jaunt...

Hello, Hello! This may seem like a strange question, but I can think of no better forum than HAZ to ask! Being that a majority of our backpacking experience has been in AZ, UT, and CA, I thought to ask what others that hike in the same general vincinity thought of New Zealand, if indeed anyone has b...
