Wanting to kayak on the Salt
The hubby and I are looking for isolating ways to recreate and we thought that taking our 'yaks out for some flatwater fun could be nice. I've heard nice things about the Salt in the Sagurao/Canyon Lake area, but I'm honsetly too lazy to do a bunch of research to find what I'm looking for. Anyone ha...

Royal Arch Route Trip Coming Up...
I've got permits to return to Royal Arch April 14-19. I'm excited to be heading back in to the canyon and back into see the Arch again... However, I'm a bit nervous about the drive in to Pasture Wash given the amount of snow that was up there recently. Anyone have a good idea of the road conditions?...

AZT Passage 17a Annual Maintenance Event
I subtitle this one "Catclaw Revenge" The Alamo Canyon Passage is classic Sonoran desert - rugged, remote and beautiful. Join the passage steward (me!), the Arizona Backpacking Club, in their mission to maintain this as one of the premier passages of the Arizona National Scenic Trail. This...

Re: AZT Total Elevation Gain
If you through-hike going northbound, the AEG is 113,088 feet. If you through-hike going southbound, the AEG is 113,537 feet. (I was surprised by how similar they are!) The start and finish are within 1000' of each other, so you'd have to come out about even. Of course, I've heard people swear that...

@SuperstitionGuy
Well - can't say for sure, but I have records of someone reported as 85 who section hiked it over 2 years. Another at 81. The oldest for "All at Once" is 76.
I hope I'm that badass when I'm 85. Or even half that badass.
Is that considered a bad word?

AZ Trail Maintenance Weekend Blue Ridge
A great deal of the AZT, was built through weekend work events. This event reprises that tradition in the cool pines of the Mogollon Ranger District. Work will involve general maintenance of the Arizona Trail as it climbs the ridge south of the Blue Ridge Campground. This well-built trail just needs...

Arizona Trail Maintenance - Passage 17a
The Arizona Backpacking Club is sponsoring its annual maintenance event on Passage 17a in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Because we've scheduled the event for Veterans Day weekend, we're going to get a little more ambitious with our plans and try to get deeper into the passage working on the South...
