mt.wrightston is a great hike south of tucson they have campgrounds,and you can also camp on the mnt. it has an elevation of 9400' and a great camp at 7400' lots of room and flat there or baldy saddle, or on top is my personal best :wink: ,great view's and wildlife gota watch for bear's tho :? ive b...

:) took my 8yr old daughter up blackett's ridge,it was her first real hike. She just flew up the hill ahead of her dad, i had to slow her down lol. it was awesome, she had a blast. this is the first of im sure many hikes to come. she already wants to climb mt.rainier :D

Thank's to all who replied. i was dear hunting in the whetstone mnt's S.E. of Tucson. they grew in thick patches,had to walk throught them at times. I to ended up with a blood soaked pant leg. :?

shin dagger's?

has anyone ever heard of shin dagger's? they are a cactus plant that if you step to close to them they dig into youre shin's (AND THEY GET ANOYING) does anyone know the real name for them?

blackett's ridge in sabino canyon is a short rewarding hike, also mnt. wrightson in madera canyon a bit longer hike but, it takes you to 9400' a great hike. :)

not sure on mt lemmon i know the lower area's such as sabino canyon were not affected, however there are other great places around tucson that you can hike that haven't been affected at all like wasson peak,and the rincon's.

tucson hiker

looking for hiking friend's, ive hiked mt.wrightson and spent the night on top that was awesome,also hiked blackett's ridge several times,wasson peak,and picacho peak,all solo (not a good idea) but i love to hike. im an early bird.(only been hikeing in az 1year) willing to hike w/any skill or age.
