Hiking Buddies Wanted: 1/22 - 1/25

Hello, I'm an AZ native visiting town after a long absence. I'm up for any challenging hike, especially if it has a peak. I did Battleship and the Superstition Ridgeline during my last visit with HAZ members and I would love to do either again. I'm open though if there is something else you have in ...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

Right on! That sounds like a winner. I was planning on going back home Friday, but this is definitely worth waiting for.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

It was a perfect day and thanks again for everything. Let's do Battleship tomorrow, it is totally worth taking a day off. Call me.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

I made a mistake and it turns out that they are doing the ridgeline NEXT saturday! lol Tomorrow doesn't look like the best day to do Battleship, there is supposed to be a 40% chance of rain, what do you think? Are there any other days during the next few weeks that you will be available???

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

Battleship Mountain is definitely on the top of my wish list. I have been wanting to tackle it since the first time I read Fritski's description. Do you want to come with me??? Well, sure, but it depends when. I have this weekend free, but I'll be at the Grand Canyon the following weekend and Joshu...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do Superstition Ridgeline, but Battleship Mtn is 10 times cooler...IMO. Of course, if you do Superstition Ridegeline then you could easily knock out Superstition Peak, which is on your list too. Battleship Mountain is definitely on the top of my wish list. I have b...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

I am in Arizona now and I will be here on vacation for at least two weeks. I climbed to the top of Pass Mountain today to warm up and I am looking forward to doing lots of hiking while I am here. I am interested in the Pass Mountain Ridgeline, Battleship Mountain, Peralta Trail/Cave Trail loop, Aylo...

Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain

Does anybody have an interest in doing the Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain in late December/early January. I am an AZ native coming home for the holidays.

By the way, I did return my kit and exchange it for an LED flashlight. I feel it may be more useful to me. Besides, I have lived in AZ my whole life and I have heard a lot of stories of rattlesnake encounters, but I have never heard of anyone actually being bit. Thanks for the info.

Ihave never heard that before, and I feel like a real sucker because I just spent $15 on one!!! Where were you a week ago? Do you mean to tell me that they are completely useless?

Hiking in the heat

I have noticed lately that there have not been many people on trails that are supposed to be very crowded. Is it because of the heat?

Thanks for all of your insights and advice. I like what Joe said about geting lost, because I actually did get a little side tracked on my trip up Superstition. When I was heading back down from the flatiron I went down the wrong gully for a short time. It had a similar climb at the top, but I still...

In response to az420dude's reply: Yeah, I don't really like the options of this poll either. I offered a different one to begin with, but I was censored. I guess one can never really escape drug war hysteria. While we are on the subject, I think it is important for us all to consider one fact. The ...

I say leave the booze at home and bring some cannabis. It is much lighter, and probably more compatible with an outdoor experience.

Hiking alone

I hiked to the summit of Superstition Mountain today by myself. I have never hiked alone before except for Camelback Mountain, which doesn't really count. I think that being alone added quite a bit to the experience, but it was also kind of scary. I never really felt that I was in danger, but it jus...

Has anybody ever jumped off the dam??? Forget the rope swings, that is the real rush. It is perfectly safe as long as you jump out far enough to clear the rock. The water is probably 18 or 20 feet deep, so you don't have to worry about hitting the bottom.
