Re: Humphrey and Agassiz on Sunday 12-21
Jhodlof I live in Yuma but would love to come up for this one. I have done Humphrey's before (last August via inner basin), but always thought it would be more fun in the snow. In my part of the state we have no need for snow gear so if I were to head up for that climb, what would you recommend on g...

Actually I should have said truck, not car. I have Tacoma 4x4, which should give me some more TH options.

Parking my car at W. Supes trailheads
I am heading up from Yuma in a month or so for a backpacking trip and was wondering if you would recommend which trailheads you would/would not feel safe parking your car in for a couple nights in the West Superstitions.
Thanks,
Cory

Which shoes for extreme dayhikes?
I am looking for a shoe that can withstand day hikes of 20+ miles. Currently I am using Merrell Chameleon Wrap XCRs and absolutely love them until I hit about 15 miles for the day. The balls and arches of my feet start to feel the pain, and this is with liners, good quality light to midweight socks ...

Re: What size pack would you recommend for 1-2 nighters?
So far....3 lb. Cabelas' Eureka sleeping bag, 2 lb Prolite 4 pad, Walmart Coleman Peak 1 stove and fuel cannister, and a few walmart stuff sacks. Looking at getting a 5lb. or less tent. Won't go without my Ruger 9mm either, not sure of exact weight on that. I would like to keep things as light as po...

What size pack would you recommend for 1-2 nighters?
I am new to backpacking and am most likely going to be doing 1 to 2 night trips, with an occasional 3-nighter. Will probably be doing 5 to 8 miles per day at most. The majority of my trips will be near home (Yuma) in the Kofa Mountains--wInter of course, it is too hot to even go take the trash out h...

Need a cheap tent
I am new to backpacking and would like some tent advice. I would like to find a lightweight 2-person tent, but only want to spend upwards of $125. I have scoured ebay, my local REI, online stores, etc. and have really come to no decision about what is best. A customer service rep. from Campmor recom...
