I finished my search around the trailhead to the Southeast. Has anyone gone down the old road to THicket Spring. IT's up on top of ...

Re: Mazatzal Backpack Thanksgiving Break
I took my ATV in 25A on Monday and made it about 3/4 of the way in and hiked up the 86trail to the 260 trail then up that to Thicket Spring and then back down the 86 trail. There was a big pool of clear water with moss that if I had needed any water I wouldn't have worried about filtering a couple o...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)
Just for everyone's info. Today I hiked from the end of FR 25A up the Cornucopia TR86 to TR 260 and up and over the hill to Thicket Springs TR95 North on that trail to Cronucopia TR86 and back down to my ATV at the 25A road. No sign but then there's been a lot of rain that have wiped out all tracks ...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals
I was at the Mt. Peeley trailhead yesterday with around ten other TRSAR members and we sent in a six man squad with four of them acting as rely points for radio. It took from 8:30 AM till around 2:30 PM just to get two squad members to Sheep Mt. where the search is being concentrated. I and several ...

Re: Search and Rescue
Seems that this guy was dead before the search started. The only reason they came back Tuesday to do a search near the trailhead was a hiker that had seen Kelly on the trail saw him hiking back towards the trailhead while he was still up on top. This person then went out of town and didn't hear abou...

Re: Federal Sting on Pot Hunters
The Feds are alway heavy handed and always over kill on everything they do. I've experenced this first hand ten years ago when I lived in Young, Az. The local fed cited me for cutting tree limbs on a trail in back of our house. The story is that we had had a snow storm in late April and it had broke...

Well I get off Saturday at 5pm and I'll be leaving from Pine and spend the night either up close to the snow bowl or in the wal mart parking lot.
I'm planning on getting a early start 6am or so and hope to see some of you all on the trail.

I'm not sure how far up that trail goes. I've been up it to the Gowan grave marker but no farther. How much trail is there?

Re: The coming of the Monsoon.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the ridge to the North of Mt Baldy? I've read that it's at 11,420 which would be 17 feet higher than Baldy. I'm thinking about hiking the Little Colorado route up to that point and I guess with a GPS I can get close to the correct elevation but not right...
