Backpacking with shuttle in Superstitions- looking for suggestions
I have an opportunity to be dropped off at one of the superstition wilderness trailheads and picked up a day later somewhere else and curious what type of suggestions someone could point me to? I've got some experience backpacking in the Sups but its been 5+ years so could really use some guidance f...

Lower LaBarge Canyon water
I'm wondering if the water in lower LaBarge canyon is reliable for this coming weekend? I'm thinking of spending the night in there and then hiking up Battleship mountain the next day and curious if anyone has been out there recently...Thanks

Re: Looking for indoor climbing partners
I'm looking for climbing partners indoor and outdoor. I just started and working on 5.9 in gym and some sloppy 5.10s. I bought rope and stuff for outdoor climbing but not comfortable leading and have only been out a few times. I live a few miles from camelback and would be up for climbing almost any...

Re: Superstition Ridgeline
ahh..sounds like fun. my last "attempt" we dropped my car at carney then 2nd car at siphon draw. I left a few things in the 2nd car and realized 6hrs into this hike that one of the things I left was my keys! :y: We turned around and got back in the dark. Good grief...This is the one hike t...

how to find reliable weather reports in the sups
I'm curious what site people are using?
on weather.com you can type in "superstition wilderness" and it appears to show a forecast for the western sups. I'm curious if anyone has something more accurate and also how I can get a forecast for the eastern sups?

Re: What is your favorite supplement?
I tend to be very skeptical anytime I hear a recommendation for supplements but one thing that's been on my radar is glucosamine supplements. If anyone has issues with knees or other joints, I've heard from 2 fairly reliable sources that they started taking a glucosamine supplement each day and noti...

Re: La Barge Lower-Box Loop 1/15
sounds like an awesome trip. I wish I was going to be available for this one. the view of the front of Battleship from Canyon Lake is great and then the lower box is one of my all time favorites. with just a daypack on, I'd be comfortable :y: crawling over those giant boulders towards the end of the...

Re: Other summits in Sups? - Similar to Battleship Mtn
Thanks for all the suggestions. Our trip over NY weekend followed the "dripping springs super loop" and we also spent an entire day on a side trip up randolph canyon and then bush wacked a route up the southern face of LaBarge mtn to the summit. I'm new and not sure what the deal is with t...

Re: Supes Backpack over NY
Did you ever find any reliable water reports for your New Years trip? I'll be out there for 3 nights also but haven't decided my exact route. I'd be curious if you have ideas other than Charelebois and LaBarge Spring? I'm not too sure... Also, I imagine you looked at the weather report? Low of 21 de...

Re: Other summits in Sups? - Similar to Battleship Mtn
Thanks! I really appreciate all this. I'm changing my plan completely now to focus more on water sources. I'll likely start at Peralta TH and head up to Bluff Springs Summit and then camp somewhere between LaBarge spring and Charlebois. For the 2nd day, I'm not sure, but like end up on the top of Bl...

Re: Other summits in Sups? - Similar to Battleship Mtn
Thanks for all the suggestions. I've researched them all and have a lot on my to-do hiking list... My next trip will be over NY Eve and I'll be spending 2 nights. I'm brainstorming some ideas for a nice loop over the 3 days. If anyone has any suggestions on this itinerary I came up with, please let ...

Other summits in Sups? - Similar to Battleship Mtn
I'm planning a 2-3 night trip into the Sups Dec/Jan and wanted some advice on summiting something comparable to Battleship Mtn. I did Battleship Mountain in the past and was blown away by how awesome that was! I won't have ropes and not interested in anything that is significantly more technical tha...

Re: 60CSX at $200 from Costco
Thanks for the tip. I just ordered the 60CSX from Costco. They still have them for $200. This will be my first introduction to GPS so I probably have some pretty ridiculous questions. I mainly want it for out in the Superstitions. Can someone offer any advice on what else I'll need? Do I need to dow...

Help planning 3 nights at Grand Canyon - Dec/Jan
Hello... I haven't backpacked much at the Grand Canyon. I've gone to Havasupai falls a couple times but that's it. I have a couple friends coming into town over the xmas holiday and would like to plan a trip out for 3 nights. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good 3 night backpacking trip? Sinc...
