Was caught 2 miles from my house! On Tuesday it ran through our parking lot at work at Pecos and Ellsworth! Scared the hell out of my bosses wife who had showed up early.

Re: Water Treatment on the trail
Been using the MSR Sweetwater for a couple years now. A little heavy, but works like a champ with no field/sick issues yet. Probably time to change the filter though. I always pre filter with a bandana just to try to keep it clean. Have pumped some pretty questionable water, green slimy stuff on top...

Re: backpacking during a bow hunt
Being a hunter and a hiker, I don't hunt on or off of hiking trails. Mostly game trails. Even if I do run across hikers, I usually keep quiet and still. Someone walking by my hunting area hardly ever ruins that area, as long as they don't stop and start a fire to make lunch. And how often does that ...

Ask someone that lives in Idaho how they feel about the wolf re-introduction in 1995? See how well that went over.

I use the Kelty Light Year down bag. At a 20 degree, keeps me pretty warm with the help of a Big Agnes insulated pad. Quite comfortable too. As for down jackets, nope. Have a Polartec fleece jacket that I picked up used at an Army Surplus store for $15, $80 something new at Cabelas.

Re: ACL Tear
In '89, I had a slight tear in my left ACL playing baseball. Opted to not get any surgery, due to only being a small tear. My knee some what gives me trouble here and there, nothing too bad. A little ice sometimes at night after I get home from a hard day at work, but for the most part, very bearabl...

I've done a lot of volunteer work with children in the past. Think there are a lot of kids who have been deprived of Vitamin NO! Hated parents tell me that their kid was a pain in the butt because they have a learning disability, are gifted, a unique snowflake, ate sugar that morning, etc... One ch...

I seem to remember a time when myself and five friends decided to "hike" a little place called Siphon Draw with nothing but 2 twelve packs of Bud Light. Sure is a pretty view at night with a couple of warm beers.
That was maybe, oh, 15 years ago.

I would try to find the owner. Maybe Craig's List or Back page. Had the wife look at pics, she studies different religions/cultures. She agrees with last findings. "That's probably someone's astrological birth certificate. Also possibly someone left in the tree to return a lost loved one back t...

I'm 38, same position back in '07. Lost everything. Best thing that ever happened to me. I have learned that being in debt SUCKS! Vehicles are paid for, bare bones on the few bills I have. I make $40,000 less a year and am the happiest I have ever been.

We stopped to see if you needed any help. Also went on a walk about getting out of the ranch.
Also smoked us on the trail coming out. I was the one with my nephew. He wasn't really feeling the hike out. (Neither was I)

Re: Reavis Ranch 2.0: No Gimpy Hippies!
Just got back from Reavis. Road from the south is a little banged up due to monsoon rains probably. Its not to bad though. The ranch its self was awesome, like always. Plenty of water toward the southern end. There were probably about half a dozen overnighters camped in the orchard and that many cam...

Re: Reavis Ranch 2.0: No Gimpy Hippies!
The south is pretty easy till you get to the switch backs up to the saddle. Its not too hard. Then its a piece a cake to the ranch. Coming out is really easy till the last mile or mile and a half. That's a good work out on the legs. I like the Rodgers TH better. I won't be able to get up there that ...
