Thanks for the info! With his self professed bad luck, @Jim_H should not be making any bets! Did I link him correctly? Haha.

Re: Bill Williams Mountain closure
How long does the closure typically last? I've been thinking about doing this, so I am glad you posted!

Backpacking in Sedona
My friend is visiting from out of state, has never been to Sedona and has scheduled 3 days for her and her friend to be in Sedona. Any recommendations? Long and difficult is likely encouraged. Thanks for the help!

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
The storm completely missed Grand Canyon. No snow at all, while I hear Flagstaff had 6 or more inches, Prescott 4 inches, etc.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
This has fallen off the recent activity page and it has been one month since the last post. I am wearing pants and a sweatshirt mid day in mid June when the sun is out and it is not raining???

@Jim_H
Well, thank you. 100k is about as high as i will ever go these days. I could maybe see a 125k year, but my 194k in 2012 will certainly not be repeated. I just don't hike during the work week and dont want to just hike on my days off.
I wish you well on your healing.

Re: 2017 Hazolutions
I'm off to a roaring start in 2017 with 5,140 AEG in the first two months. Of course, there hasn't been one weekend day since before Christmas that hasn't been either rain, snow, cold, overcast or otherwise miserable up here in the high country. So, I am not too concerned about it. Next weekend is l...

I had my first 100,000' year in 2016 since 2013, so I am pleased with that. Also, my highest fpm at 366.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
@nikorock28 As you know, I'm not a fan of snow. However, when it arrives in great quantities it becomes more interesting--fun for cross country skiing and photography. As Cactuscat said, I'm a bit jealous. I checked the Canyon Dave Tours schedule and it shows my boss has booked out (cancelled) tour...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
By far, this is the most snow I have seen at GCNP, with this being my 5th winter here. 13" sits on my back wood fence, 17" on the picnic table and areas right around 20" or more in the yard (above my knee). The biggest storm is forecasted for tomorrow, which will likely add greatly to...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
@chumley Thanks for the sinister smile there. And thank you for confirming that I am not crazy when I tell people that winter is October through may up here. If it is below freezing or there is snow, that is winter! Also, I see Los Angeles comes in with an average of zero days per year. Growing up ...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I broke down and had to use my space heater last night. I contemplated its use a couple cold nights two weeks ago, but toughed it out. Fortunately, it appears a warming trend is in the works with high 70s and, more importantly, lows back up to the 40s in a week or so. It is too soon for near freezin...
