WOW! The trimble outdoors is such a great program! I had once read about it in backpacker magazine but had forgotten about it! What a useful tool!

I look forward to going out on this trip, I absolutely love backpacking and I pack and repack my backpack almost every day resorting things in it, making it as light as possible but bringing everything I need, what fun! :y: I saw the photos of the area and it looked drop dead go...

Hey all my family and I are going backpacking for around 2 1/2 days on the Merritt Draw Loop trail this coming June. I have everything planned and it looks like a beautiful area to go and escape the desert heat in the summer months. I have only one concern and that being water. I was looking at the ...

OH NO!!!!!! All of the sites for winn campground have been reserved! My back up plan was to go off on a FR road and just car camp there. But the Alpine fire shut down the mt baldy wilderness!

Campgrounds near the little colorado

This August I am going to be car camping with my family. We have been to Mount baldy before but would like a little more of a luxurious (as luxurious as camping can be) way of being out in the wilderness. I was wondering if anyone knew a good camping spot near the little colorado for car camping.

Re: Dane Canyon Loop Trail

Well last Thursday at 8 p.m. my sister and mom were reviewing our Dane Canyon backpacking trip and they said it would be to hard since you follow an elk trail down into the canyon. And since my dad (a huge wilderness expert) wasn't coming they said we would probably get lost. So they decided we woul...

The mount baldy loop trail is definitely a must! I would pay 1000$ bucks to go there every week! :M2C: My favorite spot in all of AZ is right along the Mount Baldy Loop trail.

Re: Dane Canyon Loop Trail

Sorry I meant 4 days backpacking that trail. And we have a topo map and compass. Also my parents are wondering whether instead of backpacking the whole ways we would just hike in on the first day then set up a basecamp, and then exploring the canyon the other days. My sister says backpacking sounds ...

Re: Dane Canyon Loop Trail

How is the forest road that we will be driving in on. Is it well kept or rocky and covered in bumps. Also is this hike long enough for 2 1/2 days backpacking?

Dane Canyon Loop Trail

My family and I are going backpacking in late may. We were thinking of going to Dane Canyon and doing the loop trail. We will be there for 3 days and 2 nights. We love backpacking and have been across the country to Olympic national park so we aren't amateurs. My parents do have concerns though. Wil...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)

My dad and I have hiked up there. It is some rough country. My prayers go out to gpsjoe. I wish I could do more to help but I am stuck in scottsdale till spring break. I pray he is found by then.
