Re: AZT SOBO Thru Hike in Fall - Need Friend!
I'm thinking about hiking in the fall. What date are you planning to start on? I'm tied up until late September. I would like to have a hiking partner because I have never hiked in an arid environment. I have hiked half of the AT in the past three years.

Re: Re-Supply Locations
Thanks for posting the link to the resupply plan. It was really helpful. Personally I am not comfortable going over 80 miles without resupplying. To do so means carrying a lot of weight. But there are apparently a couple of times when it is necessary.

Re: Re-Supply Locations
My God. That's a lot of miles before resupplying. I'm starting to get really concerned about this.

Pharmacies?
Does anyone know if there sufficient pharmacies along the trail? I have medication I have to have refilled every 30 days. Or will I have to hitch a ride long distances into a nearby town?

@JimAH
I am looking at the possibility of flying into Tucson around March 15. Is there anyone that is flying into that airport that would like to share the cost of transportation to the trail head?

In regards to the phones. I only use old school phones, no smart phones. I see what smart phones do to people's lives. Constantly facebooking, for example, and I am not open minded to getting one just yet. I have, however, made a commitment to get the Iphone 8 when it finally comes out.

Re: AZT snow hiking strategies
But on a second thought there's not a damn thing we can do about it anyway. So maybe it's not as important as I think it is. I would still be concerned about any large accumulations, I believe, however.

Would it be beneficial for us to contact the trail stewards in regards to expected snow depths in certain sections in question?

Re: AZT snow hiking strategies
This concerns me. There is considerable more difficulty in hiking thru deep snow. I'm also concerned about being able to see the trail good enough to stay on it. I suppose a GPS loaded with the Arizona Trail chip is a necessity. I really don't know how to take the data from the previous snow data re...

Re: Across Arizona as One, Twice - Speaking Tour
Is anyone going to record this speech so that I can watch it on Youtube or download the audio? I can't make it out there that early in the year. Plan to Nobo in mid-March.

Cavaroc,
When it comes to caching water. How will you go about that? Will you pay a citizen to transport the water out there for you?

I have a Granite Gear Vapor Current ultralight backpack that is 60 liters. I am concerned as to rather or not it is large enough to carry the amount of water I am going to need. I have just bought the inflatable frame for it that is supposed to take it's capacity to 40 pounds. Do you all think it wi...

JimAH,
If that's the case did they say that I still need to apply for a permit? Or are they cool with just trying to get me in?

Grand Canyon Access? Camping?
Will I have to obtain a permit way before the hike and schedule my appearance at the Grand Canyon on that given day? Or will the Grand Canyon rangers allow me special treatment since I will be an Arizona Trail hiker? If I get into the canyon do you think some canyon hikers will allow me to share the...
