Re: Who Drives or Drove a Jeep
I dove one of these when I was in the Army. The two in the pic were in my platoon. Once on a Reforger my transmission fell out and my first sgt stuck it back in using two bog sticks. Drove it for a week like that.

Re: AZ National Forest Closures
I live a little south of most of you and I headed off to Finger Rock Trailhead to climb to Mt Kimball in the Pusch Ridge this morning because the Coronado FS site said the trail was open. Maybe I was just hopeful. I get there and it is closed. It has been almost a month, why don't they have the trai...

AZT Maintenance in the Mazatzals
Here is an opportunity to give back to the trails we love so much. If you have never participated in a trail maintenance event before, now would be a great time to discover how much fun it can be. You will have time to work as hard as you want or to explore and relax as much as you wish. This is a n...

Superstition overnighter
Looking for some takers on an abbreviated overnighter in the Superstitions. Want to start @ 6pm Tues 19th, hike about 5 miles in and make camp. Wed I'd like to do @ 15 to 18 miles, finishing around 6pm. Have no set plan but have map in hand. I just discovered the Superstitions this winter an...

@tibber Great post Tibber. I had the privilege of meeting both Roger and Sandy this summer on section 17, "Revenge of the catclaw" hosted by Wendy Lotz, and they infected me with the volunteer bug. Talk about volunteer trail maintenance enthusiasts. I had such a good time that doing trail...

I would love to attend this with you but I work that weekend. There is no better place to be than out there when you are hurting inside. Death and the outdoors have a way of making us feel small, yet realize what a huge impact everything has on our lives. Merianne

No kidding. I just had a patient who got lost hiking the trails in my area. Acute kidney injury from overexertion, not to mention lots of cacti pokies

Re: What do you do for a living??
I have the best hiking job. I am a nurse, work 3 12 hour shifts a week. That leaves 4 days for hiking and if it really really necessary some time for doing the adult stuff I have to do, but only if I cannot postpone it. I like talking to people about their jobs, I think it is interesting how people ...

Re: What do you do for a living??
I am a nurse, 3 12 hour shifts a week. That leaves 4 for hiking, or random adult stuff if really really necessary. That was not my plan in the beginning but it has worked out. I like knowing what people do. I can always learn how people deal with work life and coworkers.

Re: Ventana Canyon to Mt. Lemmon overnight
Ventana is the closest TH to my house, thus the choice. My goal is to go up every canyon or trail to Mt. Lemmon and make it an overnight once a month. I thought the plan was pretty basic, once up on Esperero I would take the Cathedral of Rocks to AZT and from there the trail should be good, right?? ...

Ventana Canyon to Mt. Lemmon overnight
I will come across sounding like a newbie, but I am. Still trying to figure out how to make my own route for my planned hike but realized it would have come and gone before I figured it out. So, without posting a map, on Nov 3 -4th I am looking for a taker or two in Tucson who would like to backpack...

I like to be spontaneous, but work always gets in the way. With a little notice, next time for sure.

I would be interested, just need to move a few days at work around which is doable, if you are still going.
