Great question. I'm in the same "boat," wondering which is better. I'll soon have access to a relatively quiet and private creek, but I've never tried kayaking at all. I'm looking forward to your results!
(Sorry, couldn't resist)

I know the FS release indicates a campfire ban at Apache-Sitgreaves, but I haven't seen anything today (just now) on camping restrictions or closures. Just curious - I reserved a family site today at Spillway in Woods Creek for this weekend (camping in comfort, I guess); do the reservation agencies ...

Speaking of Workouts
Olesma, My boy has been oversized since he was born, so I know the feeling of the kiddy pack workout. But, since he just turned 9 and weighs in at 130, I think I'll let him hike up on his own. If you're ever up for a good workout type of hike (not running, just a good steady pace and an aerobically ...

We mixed them up pretty well, and I was mildly surprised to hear her tell me her favorite one. We drove up to Sedona on Saturday early afternoon and to...

Need ideas for Grand Canyon/Sedona Weekend
I have a friend visiting from Chicago the weekend of March 22 . She wants to be sure to see the Grand Canyon, and I want to be sure she doesn't skip Sedona. Does anyone have any great ideas for easy to moderate hikes in these areas? At most we will leave Phoenix early on Saturday and return Sunday, ...

WOW! Thanks for all your feedback!
:o Thanks to all for these elaborate ideas! I wasn't too sure about trying to get everything in in one day, but I see it's both doable and enjoyable. However, my friend and I decided to spend the whole day at GC (I think we'll do the Bright Angel trail for a few hours), so we won't have to leave PHX...
