Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Hurricane season starts 6/1 and saw my first waterspout of the year today. Let the fun begin.

Happy first day of summer!

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I am hoping that, after this weekend, I can put my space heaters away until late September. But with lows still in the 40s, I'm not sure.

@azbackpackr
I used my heater this morning for a brief period of time. No a/c up here, but don't need it. I think the warmest my apartment got last year was 84 or so, which is not bad. I run a fan and open the windows.

Thing is, I live in an RV--not as well-insulated as an apartment or house. It's one drawback of being a "full-timer," but in my case, since I move with the seasons, not too big a deal. And I don't pay an electric bill--it's included in my rent.

Right. I lived in a travel trailer up here for almost 2 years and it would get very warm in the summer. A/C was definitely a necessity. The winters were harsh in there... I lived in front of space heaters.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
A wide area of rain has developed over the western Rim area, and Flagstaff is reporting nearly 1/4 of an inch of rainfall. Looks like a lot of areas, like the Peaks/Humphrey Summit Trail, Elden, areas well west of town, and down to Sedona and Oak Creek are getting some very unseasonable, but likely welcome rain. More lasting El Nino affects, I suspect, as this is what should be the driest and warmest time of year, not a rainy time.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I think it rained here in Williams last night, judging by how wet it is outside. I slept through it. There was thunder nearby when I fell asleep.

Control Road area East of Payson -- we got an inch and a quarter of rain, with enough pea sized hail to cover the ground, howling winds, and lots of lightning to go with it. Unusual weather for this early in June, though the rain was not unwelcome.
There was fog rising off the forest floor this morning. Beautiful.

@ljcygnet
Friday evening about 7PM I was cruising down the rim road and ran into the storm about 3 miles east of 87. Nasty, nasty, and the hail was 1" or better. It covered the ground within 10 minutes. Made it to my campsite off 139 but it rained all night.
