Grand Canyon anyone?

Post by whereveriroam »

I have a permit for 4 nights to go down to Thunder River off the North Rim. One person can not make this trip so now I'm looking for a capable replacement. The nights for this trip are Wed. 9/24 thru Sat. 9/27, there's a good chance that a Tue. 9/23 car camp may be done since this is a far off TH. Our permit has us is spending the 1st and last nights on the Esplanade and the middle 2 nights at Upper Tapeats with a day hike to the river. This is a 25-33 R/T depending on our route with a loss and then gain of over 5000'. This is also a hard permit to get! Anyone interested? I can provide much more info to interested people. whereveriroam

Tempting. However, already took time off from work 9-11 and 9-12 (my b'day), a tradition I just started last year. Long story, but here's the short. Last year year my oldest son and I went camping 9-11, 9-12, 9-13, at Indian Hollow Campground, just a short step from Thunder River Trailhead. Awesome area and we took a hike down the trail a bit. I was not familiar with the trail, nor the area for that matter and we only hiked down about four hours, break for lunch and hiked out. Once home, I dug up the info about the area and I promised myself one day I might just mosey back down in there.

Hope you find a pardner.

In response to whereveriroam's reply:
I can go on this trip if it is still open. I requested the time off from work and they gave it to me! If it doesn't work out for some reason, I could always use the days to go somewhere else or visit my family back east. Hopefully I'll hear from you soon.
