Bandana choker

Nah, this topic ain't about choking the snot out of a bandana--it's about a way to hold a bandana around my or your neck. For many years I just tied the good ol's bandana in a knot and forgot it. Well, we've been hangin' out up here in Oregon, as some of you know, and they have all of these mrytlewood shops everywhere. One day we got the bright idea to go in and get a "bandana choker" made. Well, the artisans who crafts mrytlewood into everything you can possibly imagine had never even heard of such a thing. We tried to explain it would be like a napkin ring only different. Finally we found some guy who took the bait and cut us a little humdinger bandana choker out of mrytlewood. First he drill a 3/4" hole in a piece of 1.25 inch mrytlewood stock. Then he free handed the wood through a bandsaw/scrollsaw type of machine so the thickness of the wood between the hole and its outer edge is about a quarter inch.
We've been using it for about a month and it ROCKS! We can adjust the tightness of the bandana easier "on the fly." We can get the cloth on and off to wipe our face without having to fumble with the knot or mess around retying it. And besides that it looks REAL spiffy. We store it on the trip odometer reset button in the truck so it's always handy. We reckon you could cut them out of burl mesquite or gamble oak or plain old ponderosa pine, too. (When we get back to Rimrock, we're definitely going to check out having one or more made from mesquite.) If you use a bandana all the time like we do, give this idea some thought. It's great.

I really envy your trip through Oregon... I lived in a little town near Roseburg and used to go camping at Toketee lake almost every summer growing up. I realize it has changed alot over the years but boy it was a beautiful place to go. I dont think i have ever seen trees as tall as they are there.
