Ash Creek backcountry camping?

Post by Sarae »

I was wondering if anyone has found any good camping spots a short ways in on the Ash Creek Trail on Mt. Graham. I'm taking over a trip last minute for this weekend and our plan is to head in a couple of miles from the Columbine Visitor Center and drop our packs and set up camp. From there we want to check out the falls and Oak Flat. Is the Mill site a possibility? We would need room for 4 tents and one hammock :D

Thanks!

We went to the old Mill site last weekend. It was only 1.5 miles in on the Ash Creek Trail. It would suit your group just fine. Have fun!

The Mill site is about the only spot upstream from Oak Flat that would hold 4 tents, as I recall.

Thanks you all! I think we will aim for the Mill site then. Should be an excellent weekend for an overnighter!
