(East into Globe on Hwy60 north side, after Hwy188 intersection and before reaching Hill Street(which is the right turn off Hwy60 for this Six Shooter Trail hike)..Look for a Circle-K and Car Wash on the south side of Hwy60..)"

Original name/address/phone# is "NO LONGER":
Libby's El Rey Cafe

El Reys has great bowls of Red Chili, best I have had in Globe. The Green, I'll pass on.

Tracy and I ate at Irene's "Real Mexican Food" on our way back from Chaco and I wasn't really all that impressed. We saw a full parking lot and thought "must be great food." It was just okay but I was disappointed that my chimi was drenched in sauce to the point of being soggy....not to mention they ran out of chicken in the middle of lunch. What I got was a soggy chimi with both green and red chili sauce (and I'm not a fan of red chili) Tracy's fajitas was nothing more than seasoned/steamed and bland chicken with heated tortillas.

I really love Los Hermanos in Superior. It's little "hole in the wall", divey looking place with lots of HD's out front but they make their own tortillas there and the green chili pork platter is to die for.

Totally agree about Los Hermanos. Very good service and atmosphere, even when you are there with a big group. Always have enjoyed my stops there. I tried Irene's about a decade ago (why not, that was my Mom's name), but was disappointed.

His mistake was trying to sell kitchen supplies here and not hiking supplies. He would be welcome with open arms and be made a Mod in no time... :)

I am a big Libby's El Rey fan! Irenes in Globe is also okay but Libby's wins for me. Chalos Casa Reynoso is also a winner but again for me it's Libby's. Love the Butter poured over the chips! I also agree about Los Hermanos in Superior. I recently went in after a good hike and had two cheese and onion enchiladas, two coors lights and got the bill of 7.12. Beers were icy cold and enchiladas were yummy!

You're the man!.. :y:
Btw how recent was your trip there? My wife and I stopped in 3 weeks ago Wed. and they had let their liquor license expire cuz it cost so much, like 4K.
Green chili chicken enchiladas with 2 over easy eggs on top.....true bliss. :)

I like good Mexican food but actually LOVE Puerto Rican and Cuban cuisine. Give me Mofongo, Arroz con gandules, Pernil and Pasteles any day! Anything with plantains......anyone know a good Puerto Rican restaurant in Phoenix?

Thanks! I did check out their menu and it looks pretty good. Also found another one called El Choquito in Scottsdale, a little Mom n Pop run place. Maybe I'll have to try them BOTH!

Our holiday party is there every year. I have NEVER been disappointed as we eat there whenever we can though not nearly often enough. The sangria is absolutely wonderful and the mojitos are great. My favorite dish is still the trout. Leave room for dessert.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
