Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere
Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

They're not super active in the forum, or on the site in general, but there are at least 3 other Flagstaff members on the site beside you and me.

Re: Moving to Casa Grande
Moving on the 30th, and I'll have to deal with daylight saving nonsense for about 5 weeks before that ends. For 5 years now I lived without DST, and I loved it. In the longer daylight months, the sun still goes down after 730 PM and that is fine for me. Guess it will be a lot later next year.
I was thinking of doing a Black Mesa hike as an event next June, but then I thought why not in October? Anyone interested in making the drive in a couple of weeks to hike the mesa? Or should I not bother as it would be another empty event populated only by me, like my Lavender Peak hike.

You're moving to my neck of the cacti... I'm in Red Mountain Ranch, Recker and Thomas area. Maybe we can meet up for a stroll in the Supes sometime.

Yup! Great little waterin' hole nearby = Hero's Sports bar and grill - Northeast corner of Power & McDowell. Great TVs, good food, Rosie & Henry (owners) are super.

Jim, I'm going to be up in N. Az in October to do some backpacking on the Rez. It would depend on the dates you were looking at (and my friends' plans that I'm supposed to meet up with).

Re: Moving to Casa Grande
Moving day. I cleaned as best I could yesterday since I'm moving today and won't ever be back to my home of just over 5 years. Hopefully it doesn't get dirty today. Who doesn't love the feeling of being shot out of a cannon? Did Rob's or Jake's moves feel like this? None of my previous ones did. Maybe it's becuase today is the last day of the month?

Good luck with your move. I am sure we all hope it goes well and that you will love your new home. Travel safe.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

Re: Moving to Casa Grande
it is only 7 miles directly south of here, as a crow flies. i have seen a couple of watering holes near there, but this is deep mormon country, remember.. at least there's the little place where all the heathens live called Tempe, just around the corner!hikeaz wrote: Your watering hole possibilities are gonna open up immensely!
Jim, I moved to Flag on a whim one summer with only $600 in my pocket. Lived there for 2 years. It was ok, but nothing has ever drawn me back to move back to Flag. (in fact i think ive only been back there twice? in the last 8 years)

We usually refer to that as a restraining order, but hey saying you don't care for Flagg works.....te-wa wrote: I moved to Flag on a whim one summer with only $600 in my pocket. its cool that there are a few nice shopping areas right there.. 3 grocers to choose from, Nandos is rated one of Phx's better restaurants. Zushi, however, has low ratings. Got Sushi? seems to be a much better choice. (accdng to Yelp! and UrbanSpoon)
