Man, it's already 23 and it is forecast to go down to 14 tonight. I'm tired of winter, is it spring yet?

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
I predict Flagstaff will be exceptionally cold and windy the next 7 weeks. Then Tucson will see an abnormally high amount of rain through April. I'm envisioning the Rillito overflowing its banks. Next summer in Tucson will see record temperatures about every day with the exception of monsoon season which will see an abnormally active monsoon season. The tough weather will follow Jim_H like a hungry dog follows a steaming fresh chicken pot pie.

That would be something. Just remember, it comes in through California.
Looks like we only got down to 17 last night, not 14, so gee it wasn't that bad.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
From the NWS. Will this be the first good storm of the season? If it's going to be cold, it might as well be snowy.OVER THE WEEKEND...MODELS IN GOOD AGREEMENT IN MOVING THE PACIFIC LOW
ACROSS THE WESTERN UNITED STATES WITH WINDY AND COOL CONDITIONS
SPREADING ACROSS THE AREA. IN ADDITION...WITH SUCH A STRONG AND COLD
LOW...THERE IS LIKELY TO BE AN INCREASING CHANCE OF VALLEY RAIN AND
MOUNTAIN SNOW AS THE WEEKEND PROGRESSES. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER
UPDATES.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
In the lighter side of the forum, the NWS is calling for up to 6 inches of snow around Flagstaff over the next few days, more up on the Peaks to the tune of nearly a foot. I think it will be a little drier, but we shall see. Even if it takes a dry and warm turn, winter is here folks.

Snowing in Page right now, though not really sticking. It was coming down good on Kaibab around lunch time.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
We had a good amount of rain and sleet overnight, and it has been precipitating grapple, snow and sleet most of the day. Flag NWS reports 1.08 inches of precipitation for the month at the airport. We are forecast to get some snow over night, but we'll see. I imagine it has been pretty good on the Peaks.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
Ugh. I am holed up in my trailer. It is a very good day to read a book. I did go turkey shopping, and am glad to be home.
Really lucked out yesterday at Lee's Ferry, that the serious weather did not hit while PageRob and ToadOfTheRocks and I were hiking Spencer Trail and Cathedral Wash, or while driving home from there this morning. I just heard that the storm did hit the Ferry this afternoon, finally, with very strong wind and some rain that came roaring down the Paria.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
Before it got dark out, the Fort Valley webcam was showing maybe 2 inches. Forest Lakes had barely an inch, but the Nordic Center appeared to have several inches.
Looks like it'll mostly wind down by around midnight (except out East) so I wouldn't expect more than another inch or two as the snow level drops below 6k.

Really, as this early date, I'm just happy we got some significant moisture around here, be it rain or snow. It makes it easier on the vegetation if it is dry this winter and coming spring, and it makes today's miserable weather bearable on some level.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
We might get some more light snow this evening and night. I welcome it, but I hope that Snowbowl cleans the road off and keeps it open for Friday. I'm actually a little concerned that Snowbowl Road will be closed for the weekend and I won't be able to drive up there to hike Humphrey.

They're calling for a low of 5 Wednesday night and 2 on Thursday. Does this cold seem a bit early?

I suppose so. It just seems so shocking when as recently as the 5th it was nearly 70 around here.

Re: How much Snow will we get this La Nina winter?
Well, the low in Flagstaff last night was 13, it's 15 right now and the NWS is calling for a low of 4. Will we make it, or even go lower? Maybe we'll slip below zero? Can my heater keep up? Probably.
Ooooo, and a few minutes after I posted the above, the NWS updated the forecast to a low of 1 degree. 1 is almost 0, if you didn't know.

Nope, only got to 5, and it's 12 now. They should have stuck with the original forecast. Window Rock got to 3 last night, but they did go below zero two nights ago.
