Every so often I like to bring a little booze on a backpacking trip. My current cocktail of choice is Lynchburg Lemonade. My criteria for a good drink is that it is reasonably light and tastes good in the warm desert without ice.
My recipe:
1 liter Nalgene more than 1/2 full
crystal light lemonade to taste (Wal Mart brand works too)
Early Times Whiskey to taste (the bottles are perfect for fittng in a pack)
Some people may say, why bother with the lemonade? But I have to hydrate , you know.
Any other winning recipes out there.

Some scotch and a Tatuaje after a day of hiking is the winning recipe. :STP:

1800? 1800? All of the cacti were laughing and crying at the same time. This is not a complete insult to cacti, but they would appreciate better. Save up and spend the few extra bucks for Herradura Anejo. Well worth the few extra bucks. It's actually cheaper at Costco than 1800 is at that little liquor store on 89 north out of Flagstaff. I speak from experience. Don't make the agave cry. And stay thirsty my friend.
People who drink cheap tequila will find that jumping cholla love jumping on them to teach them karma. :worthy:
Sorry for the late response Al - well - thats all they had at the goofy liquor store right outside the entrance to the GC - very very poor planning on my part - I am normally a Don Julio or Patron Anejo :worthy: or Avion in a pinch sipper. When the choice was 1800 or Skyy vodka....it was a no brainer!!! :GB:
Glenlivet introduces tide pods for adults. With the most environmentally friendly packaging available today: none.

How cool, Chums pointed out I'm mentioned in the Payson Roundup article Al-Hikes AZ post on page 2 of this thread. Chums said I was on HAZ before I was on HAZ.

I just liked that you and your wife were camping and the cops told you they were about to take down some drug runners and there might be a shootout and whatever and you figured it was a good idea to just stay there and see what happened!

Yeah they drove up late in the afternoon and said it would be a good idea if we left, because there will be helicopters and maybe gunfire. I looked at my wife and said...Oh we're staying. Best camping trip ever!

Has anybody ever camped on the Mogollon Rim and not heard gunfire?
(The helicopters were probably cool to see though!)

I carry a 5 oz softflask containing 50% Brown Rice Syrup; 20% Molasses; 30% Honey & add a little water to thin the mixture. It is my version of those costly Energy Gel packs.
