@wallyfrack
Just so some people don't think they are blind or crazy -- the stickers weren't on the shop page yesterday. But I'm glad to see they're back. :)

With a change in vehicles I need to get more HAZ decals, unfortunately I'm unable find out how/where to get more.

What, you wear out your vehicles faster than HAZ decals deteriorate? :scared:

@chumley
Thanks!
I used up my previous 'Club Pack' of 10, 2 & 2 so I might as well plaster them on every window... ok, not quite EVERY window.

@rayhuston
Yup... almost 3 months ago. It was either:
1. Keep going to the nasty off-the-beaten-track places, acknowledging the budget-busting cost to keep it capable of doing so
OR
2. Stop going to the nasty places and balance the budget
Budgetary restraints meant only option #2 was feasible. :(
So... I moved up 8 years newer to something reasonably capable (Toyota 4Runner... see my avatar) and gained the benefits of 50% better fuel economy and a smoother, quieter ride, which Tracey really appreciates.

It states the decals are good for 5-7 years, so... after 4 years of giving a thorough beating to the Cherokee the decals were beginning to show their wear. Rather than peeling them off and getting new ones, I simply replaced the vehicle. :DANCE:

From Cherokee to 4Runner, kinda like us going from 86 Blazer to 07 FJ. Ain't the 21st century cool!

Yeah, but I could do without the automatic stability control... it's an eerie feeling when the car decides to add more brake than I want. Unfortunately it can only be turned of when in 4WD and locking front and rear axles together.

The auto-safety features are sort of cool but I agree you need to understand them. Went through a car wash the other day and my car kept slamming on the brakes (annoying both me and the car wash guy). Read manual after that...

Assuming you have a 4th gen 4runner, the vehicle never brakes. The vehicle will, upon invoking ATRAC or mire-control, cut power to the engine so you cannot accelerate above 2000 rpm. The only way to engage the brakes is to engage the downhill assist control. You may want to read your manual.

ATRAC is traction control, there is no stability control. The vehicle will only engage ATRAC if it senses the wheels skidding and not engaging. This can happen when skidding on gravel, a tire off the ground, etc.

To disable ATRAC you have to rewire the 4runner custom from the fusebox, engaging 4WD doesn't disengage it. Perhaps engaging the center diff does? I don't quite remember, although if the light on your dash is on it will show it disengaged.

What year introduction is considered a 4th generation?

My new to me Rubicon has a few really annoying characteristics but overall I like it.
Pain--- engaging 4 low as the Rubicon t-case has no synchro. I tried what the manual said but the only way I could get it to do so was to put the auto trans in park. The tire pressure indicator. I got an AV Pro Cal and reprogrammed that. If you air down or your tires are cold it would trigger the alarm. For it's size it is a heavy vehicle.
Overall too much electronics for my taste.

Good- Lockers front and rear, beefy dana 44 axles, coils vs leaf springs, the auto sway bar release. Vehicle is slightly bigger than my last one which was a two door also. Engine seems to have plenty of pep. Also gas mileage very similar to FJ which is not saying much, but at least not worse. Smaller turning radius and much better visibility in tight spots than the FJ.

*and I think he's actually talking about the 5th gen. above.

2002-2009, looking at his avatar, the 5th gens have are more box shaped than the rounded 4th gens, so I guessed based on his avatar it is a 4th gen.
