I thought I'd throw an idea out on the table
maybe we could combine the map & compass event with another that's been requested
how about...
the 1st Annual HAZ BBQ
I'm thinkin' South Mountain, Papago(but it closes at dusk) or Piestewa(the other side which is more of a park)
or wherever is good for orienteering & a BBQ
mid July Saturday, starts late afternoon with map & compass then the masses join for one hum dinger of a BBQ
might need more guides than just Matt if there's a lot of folks

ok - so the consensus is for a draft beer. That shouldn't be a problem. Does anyone have a tap/ bucket, etc.? I'll see what I can do with the local store; we should be able to get Killians or something decent for a fair price.

I've been trying to sign up for the BBQ and Map & Compass deal but I've had some difficulty with the site. I keep getting a message that tells me to log in over and over again.
Anyway, I'd like to come to the BBQ. When and where is it?

Well ladies and gents, reevaluated my week-end schedule and priorities, which seem to stack-up quickly the last couple of weeks. I am afraid I will be backing out of the BBQ. Hope everyone will have fun and hope I will see everyone later.

joe bartels wrote:Well come to think of it maybe I'm not thinking of the same area. When I think of Papago I think of away from the zoo by McDowell road. But yeah, maybe the real park area on the flip side is open.
guess I still don't know where Papago Park is

only to come home to find it's off Curry Road
sorry, I obviously need to learn how to read

Ya' know Joe, you're not doing anything to dispell the rumors about your existance, or um, lack thereof...
I guess this means we'll let you pick the site for the second annual HAZBQ
Thanks to everyone who came out for the M&C class, sorry we missed those of you who couldn't make it. It turned out to be a really great event.

I second that. Thanks for putting the class together. Nice job.
Fun BBQ too. Very glad to meet some of the HAZ crew. Joe, you shoulda been there. I know, you were there in spirit. That counts.
Next time will be as great, or better. Had a good time.
Nice to meet you all that I was able to meet.

Not a problem. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. The grill situation was dicey, but it worked.
Big thanks to AzHiker96 for the big hand. And... yes... even to tinyelvis. You guys are alright.

Great food and company!
It was great to be able to put "real" faces and names with some of the avatars and handles on here.

I think I saw Joe a couple times standing on the rocks looking down on us.
Anyway - do we really need this Joe character? It was obvious today that; while we're greatful for the application he built - we can gather, drink beer, and mingle just fine.
I am leaning more toward the theory that Joe is is Prison somewhere and only has Internet access to the site.
I have met some great people and look forward to growing the relationships.
Thanks,
Bryan
p.s. Matt - I'm still planning on crashing the wedding.......

Matt: don't make your "other MOM" have to crash the wedding, that's just not socially acceptable, besides you'll never hear the end of it.
(I'll shame him into sending me an invite
