The Arizona Trail Association, Coconino County and Babbitt Ranches are excited to announce an exciting new trail project that will greatly enhance the Arizona National Scenic Trail across the CO Bar Ranch (Passage 35). An agreement has been developed between the three parties to allow construction of approximately 11 miles of trail between Tub Ranch and the Kaibab National Forest boundary. This will replace 14 miles of ranch roads with sustainable singletrack, making the journey across this vast expanse a lot more enjoyable.

I did that section with a blind guy and I closed my eyes to feel what he was feeling. Like Shaun said if you had eyes in the back of your head you could enjoy the views on this section.

I haven't actually hiked that section, but with your description, I might actually like it, especially on a bicycle. I do love big sky and wide views.

The wide open spaces along that stretch were a nice treat, although the lack of water wasn't so nice. And the camping options all seemed to be covered in grass filled with cockleburs (or some other spiny little thing). I probably wouldn't enjoy 10 days of that, but it was only a day or so.

That pretty well describes most of Arizona.

I can't find any details about this on the AZT site or elsewhere - anyone have more info? No doubt it will take some time to plan, but I would definitely be up for helping construct the new route.
