#Members vs. #Postings

I noticed today that the number of postings is just barely keeping abreast of new members joining. I find that very interesting - not for any deep psychological reason - just the curiosity of it.

Montezumawell has already expounded on the dynamic of large groups like this one. I have to say that it is looking more and more accurate every day.

I mean - look at me. I've only been posting actively to this site for a couple of months (well - since January - but really only actively very recently). I've already cracked the top 20 in total posts - of 1200+ members. Wild. Amazing what a little effort can accomplish. :D

The Internet is a wild and freaky place - and yet it so closely mirrors real life it's strange. I guess we all approach it from a different viewpoint because interacting on computers seems like it ought to be so much different from real life - and yet the dynamics are very similar.

Sorry  - didn't mean to get started. Educational technology and specifically web-based education is my current topic of research (online gaming is the real hot topic for me) and I get a little excited about it.

Good heavens! It would be EASY to get people riled up...

With that in mind maybe we should stick to the constants in life - death and taxes.

Oh, wait - taxation isn't a non controversial subject.....hmmm...back to the old drawing board...

montezumawell -- You don't show your e-mail address in your profile so I can't know if you sent me something when I joined however my guess is that if you did I deleted it without reading it. I get so much trash I don't open anything I can't identify.
Looking at other's profiles I think I will add a bit to mine this morning. Mary :)

Okay GeorgAZ - I have to ask: what are you pointing at in the picture you have for your signature? Where was it taken?

No wait, don't answer, this could be the contest of the month! My guess is that she's pointing at the hill she just fell down.

I hate to do this....but

GeorgAZ - I hate to do this but Snick may be on to something here. It could be a lot of fun for us to guess about your picture. Maybe you could start a new forum on it and let us all take a shot - if you don't mind having a little fun poked at you.

Maybe we'll have to see who can come up wit the most entertaining and ambiguous photo for their profile.

Don't you just love the photo of me? I look suspiciously like a Kokopelli....

It's a nice photo, olesma, but that's an odd saying in your tshirt!

George seems to be not pointing, but holding a walking stick while resting under an autumn tree in a canyon somewhere in the Sedona region.

I'm going to say somewhere in the southeast (y'all...), one of the Carolinas, Georgia, or Tennessee. And, George isn't pointing, she's holding on to a hiking stick or something. Them purty leaves look like they could be dogwood or something like that.

I agree that she is not pointing but holding a stick.. Cannot magnify the pic without pixelating beyond recognition..

I feel also that the pic was snapped in the south east region :?:

Hey George

George,

I've had a moment of clarity, (as we call it in my house), that's a wacking stick that your holding, like Homer Simpson used in that snake episode. Yea, thats it, your showing everyone a bloodied snake wacking stick that you just used on a harmless snake. Yea . . . . I can see that "Ted Nugent" look in your eyes now. You are just about to wipe the snake goo off on those leafs . . . . . . . . . .

Looks like the areas on the rim where the maples turn like that in the fall-- maybe Winter Cabin. It really is a beauty photo. Image

What's she pointing at?? THE REAL STORY!!!!!!!!!

 The pic was taken in West Fork(Nirvana) in late October.Actually it was dead snake goo on my hand(eeeooooo). Well, really,I was kind of balancing, barely hanging on to the branch(lightly) due to my acl + resultant scar tissue on my left knee,I am not able to completely squat down without wobbling.( You may be able to imagine the problem this creates trying to piddle in the woods-has caused some misdirection, damp right boot, and no one will ever be next to me!!)Has resulted in some hysteria by girl hiking buddy one night in the woods who happened to be next to me!! ( We are still friends!!)
