Maxwell Trail into West Clear Creek May 19-20

Let's take the short and steep Maxwell trail into the heart of Arizona's Rim country where you will spend a night amongst some of the state's finest riparian areas. This hike brings you to the start of WCC where it forms from the confluence of Clover and Willow creeks, complete with rainbow and brown trout, squirrels, ringtails, and bears. This place has a very wild feel to it, is often overlooked by backpackers because of its rugged terrain. Were going to hike down the steep but short (.7 mile) trail to an area downstream with fantastic swimming holes and a large camp "site". There is plenty to explore since the hike only takes an hour. The rugged natural beauty of this canyon will blow you away and make you a fan for life (in fact, this is our THIRD trip there). Returning Sunday afternoon.

StickFigure is going to take his truck no matter what because of the dogs. All the packs from the group could be tossed in the back of his to allow a more spacious view in MIFHAZ's rig. So if no more join up we seem to be set for transportation. As long as all riding travelers dont mind throwing out some duckets.

:D

Well Mike,
I didn't win...in fact there was no discussion whatsoever. Not fair. It went from 50/50 to 100% "I can't go."
BUT...Hope is not lost. We are back at 50/50. It's a long story that I'll tell you another time (on this trip perhaps), but Liz's brother may not be coming out here after all.
Under the circumstances, I can not keep my fingers crossed. Liz is in a sucky situation (not life or death or anything), but I might be at Maxwell. I should know for sure by Thursday.

Well it's official. I will not be able to attend this gathering. I know, it's extremely tragic, but somehow we will all get past this. I'll be thinking about you guys and possibly shedding a tear as I hang out with a bunch of tourons on the South Rim.

What's everyone doing the weekend of 6/2-6/3? That's my b-day weekend. I'm thinking about hosting a similar trip, but I'm not sure where yet.

Looks like I will be able to make it after all. May have an extra straggler following me as well. Just had to take the opportunity to screw with the transportation. :D

Tell the bear I'll reschedule.

ok back on topic for a minute,
we will need to take 3 vehicles since there are 10 people going.
My wife and son just signed up so I can only fit 1 other.
4 can go with Ryan in the Xterra-
2 in Mark's truck (including Mark)
there should be plenty of room so no worries.

I'll bring my small grille so if you want, bring a steak for over the campfire grilling. Fishing is an option as well. My rod is in tow.

Hiking out early enough to catch lunch at the Beeline Cafe (cash only) with wonderful "mom and pop" american style grub is a definate maybe.
