What to do with arsonists?

Okay, now is a time to vent my frustrations...
After hearing the news reports that the Rodeo fire was intentionally started, by a fire fighter no less, I began to think about what will happen to these stupid, inconsiderate, no-brain idiots (I can go on, but will save you from my rants) :verymad: . Most likely a fine and some time in prison. However, is that enough? The Rodeo-Chediski fire has ravaged hundreds of thousands of acres of land, devesatated the lives of hundreds of people, and cost millions of dollars. I am curious, if the decision to punish these people were in your hands, what would you do?

Our forests and public lands are open and mostly ungated. In order for them to remain that way, we pay the price of freedom.
You got me on the old Dodge van . . . . . . . . . he drives a old Ford van.

How to punish the criminal and the idiot? Frankly, I haven't really give the subject much thought. The law is in place, those who started the fire will be investigated, and once tried and convicted, punishment will be giving. I would think many, perhaps 1/2, of the home owners will have insurance and can rebuild, and perhaps the there will be low interest loans from the government for the other 1/2. The folks who lost everything, I believe, will be taken care of. And a positive note is no lives have been lost thus far. Having been born and raised in Arizona, with a brief 14 year vacation in the military, I can say Arizona is very fortunate in that we very rarely have any disasters, natural or man cause, of this magnitude. And when one considers all the events occuring in our nation and around the world, we are very lucky to be living in this great state.

Well Stated Abe. It reminds me to start my day with a moment of gratitude towards the beauty and adventure of Arizona.

I think that when they get out of prison (if they go) mob justice will take care of the rest

Right you are Randy. I also like Red's quote, " If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."
