gilbert hikers?

Post by oceanwithin »

Hi, new member here, hello everybody. :)

I just moved out to Gilbert and am looking for some hiking/backpacking (even trail running?) buddies in my neck of town, particularly since my current hiking pals live on the other side of the valley.

Favorite spots include: grand canyon, west fork trail, peter's canyon, aravaipa, salome jug, west clear creek (and anything on the rim for that matter!), etc. I'm pretty much open to all terrains/levels of difficulty. I'm also interested in learning more about the technical side of things... climbing, rappelling, etc.

If you're interested, my contact info is listed in my profile. In the meantime I will keep my eye on this forum for new hikes that are posted.

(P.S. - I apologize if this post is in the wrong spot!)

Nice to meet you all,

- Kelli

let me know if you plan on doing Humphreys! been wanting to do it for a few years now after missing a great trip some friends did in '07. also, as it relates to actual mtns, 4 Peaks offers a good challenge if ya take the right routes. pretty cool up there actually. other short list mtn trips brewing in my mind: Mt Graham, Mt Baldy & Chirichuas. I can get a few cool people to tag along...

speaking of Camel, did a 5a.m. speed ascent/descent a few weeks ago with a buddy on Echo side. good city trainer if ya tackle hard. :wlift:

yeh, the suburban sprawl definitely makes commutes long out here. sooner or later they have to start going up in this town, to reduce carbon footprints, or it will be choked like LA soon etc... :(

no doubt. hopefully Phx city & zoning officials figure out what the big Eastern metro areas did 30 years ago. suburban sprawl (white flight), is not good in the long run, for all kinds of reasons: pollution and separation of families/cultures etc... most of Europe has us beat on that front, especially as it relates to village & transportation efficiencies. i see it every time i there... :-k

ahh, what the heck, bigger is better ](*,)
