It's raining on me right now in Tempe. I think it was another 0% chance forecast today.

Significant rain south of Payson really hard near barhardt trail turn off, Rye creek was flowing, I don't know if that is normal? Snowing pretty good in Pine right now, at "that brewery & Pub" warming up, maybe I get a room in town tonight, instead of sleeping at TH lol

Wow! Just wow! We had some bizarre light rain Saturday over here, too, followed by horrendous winds Saturday night.

Is Winter over? I know the Equinox is Thursday, but is the winter season of storms, and precipitation over? My guess, is yes. 80 is forecast by the week's end, and I look forward to it.

Is anyone in Arizona experiencing a white sky? We have had 3 days, at least, of calm air but white haze with no visible blue. It's very strange, and I am wondering where it is coming from. There is a haze in front of the mountains to the east, and you can't see the mountains to the west. It's like LA, or Texas filth, came into the state.

Nope. It's perfect here.

And everywhere else that you're not at. ;)

This saddens me, as it confirms what I have long suspected: that the dark cloud truly does follow me. :(

Yes, it's true. Watch out, Tucson! Jim is thinking of moving there, and bringing his weather with him! ;)

Seriously, no one else has a white to brown haze of filth, or dust, or something, just hanging in the air around them?

Just enough haze here to produce stunning sunsets (as usual)!

Those are clouds, not haze. This was, because it appears to have mostly left the basin by the evening, a haze, not clouds. This was not high above, this was down near the ground and up several thousand feet. Holloman AFB's tarmac lights were barely visible when I left work last night. Usually they are bright.

We have had this sort of haze pollution a few times since I moved here. Don't know what it is, but it differs from the typical dust we can get off of White Sands. Last time we had this was 12/25, that I recall. Had similar phenomenon in Kayenta where I couldn't see Agathala, but that was smoke from a Fire in Utah, and it had a smell to it, like smoke.

Inversion?

Possibly, but it hasn't been cold. It's been "mild" at right about 70, though I still think that is cool for later March. I don't think we had the correct conditions to produce an inversion, and the western view never has a defined upper limit like you can sometimes see when you look out through an inversion layer.

You live close to Mexico, to Juarez, a particularly nasty part of the world, and to a lot of irrigated farmlands as well. I looked at NOAA for El Paso and for Alamogordo. Today the wind is out of the SW. It is directly up that flat valley between the huge, filthy metro complex of El Paso/Juarez, (a population of WELL OVER 2 MILLION PEOPLE), heading straight for Alamogordo. And you wonder why you have smog. Come on, Jim. Look at the map, look at the wind direction. You are breathing Mexican smog, plus ag haze.

Just got 4" of snow. Guess who's dusting off the antique flexible flyer taking the nugget sledding in the back yard maƱana? :y:

While possible, I don't know how likely that is, as I can see where El Paso and Mexico are, and some small mountains south of them, from Alamogordo, or the hills to the east. I'm aware of maps, but more aware of satellite imagery, which shows very little irrigated farm land in this region. With today's wind, we cleared a little until dusk. Also, I asked if it was hazy in Arizona, because people were reporting that is was hazy "all over the state", and up near Albuquerque. If true, that is not a local pollution problem.

True, if it is widespread, then it would not necessarily becoming up from hellhole Juarez.

We enjoyed almost two spring-like days, but winter returns to NJ tomorrow for another week. In a few days, I'll be off to OR, where it's about 20 degrees warmer. It doesn't look like I'll see AZ again until at least late April. :(
