Hey everyone! Just giving you a heads up that we have Craig Childs coming to my bookstore (Changing Hands) on Sept. 27th to talk about and sign his new book Finders Keepers: A Tale of Archaeological Plunder and Obsession. His signings and presentations are always worth checking out!
Meet Craig Childs
7pm Monday, September 27 at Changing Hands Bookstore

Naturalist and adventurer Craig Childs, a frequent contributor to NPR's Morning Edition, presents his book Finders Keepers: A Tale of Archaeological Plunder and Obsession. To whom does the past belong? Beyond what most people think about archaeology—with its cleanly numbered dates and thrilling discoveries—lies a vibrant and controversial realm of scientists, thieves, and contested land claims. In Finders Keepers, Childs explores the field's transgressions against the cultures it tries to preserve. With his trademark lyrical style, Childs carries readers directly into his adventures and discoveries, lifting the curtain on the ethical dilemmas and dark side of archaeology. It is a book about man and nature, remnants and memory, a dashing tale of crime and detection. In other words, a ghost story. More info: HouseOfRain.com.

@Alston Neal
totally... little known fact about me:

I love to dress in drag, go to booksignings, and deliver off-topic token political statements...

Finally had a chance to finish up my copy of "Finders Keepers" from Craig Childs today. Interesting thoughts on the very complex, conflicted, and confusing ethics in archeology. Found myself gaining a whole new perspective on the moral delimma(s) posed in Rob Gay's "The Marauders". See Forum Thread => viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4651&hilit=marauders and http://www.amazon.com/Marauders-Robert- ... 0557243262

Will have to seek out my copy and give it a re-read... :wrt:

PS. I did make an honest attempt to use http://www.changinghands.com for "The Marauders" reference. They don't seem to carry it...

Arizona favorite Craig Childs is coming back again! October 15th at Changing Hands Bookstore for his new book Apocalyptic Planet. I'm sure it'll be just as great as his last visit. Make sure you say hello if you come to the discussion and book signing!

Had a great time last night.
Craig was on a roll and we bumped the economy of Changing Hands a bit.
