I think when haze is as general and widespread as it has been in Northern Arizona the past few days it's an indication it is coming in from quite a distance away. I am voting for the San Bernardino NF fire as cause for most of it at the Canyon and the rest of N. AZ.

Huh? :?
Where in the article does it mention a bulldozer?

I watched the video and it sure didn't look like a bulldozer to me...

Firefighters were also able to take advantage of a different type of resource. A train along the Copper Basin Railway carrying about 30,000 gallons of water was able to help contain the fire along the Gila River bed. The train cars are equipped to spray water up to 250 feet.

That is in the second paragraph, and I someone missed the train part, so we both seem to both be reading, but not for comprehension!

Or grammar... ;)

A few seconds into the video was enough to see what Superstition Guy was referring to... a train.

In response to to your mention of bulldozer, not wanting to read every word in the article yes, I admit I was lazy so I used the browser search function for bulldozer, which of course still ISN'T there...

Ok, so bulldozed WAS... ](*,)

Especially when we have to suffer through 15-60 seconds of ads before the video begins.

Looks like a thunderstorm happened up near Mount Bigelow and Green Mountain, on the Catalinas. 1.3 inches, for two stations, but only 0.31 inches near the WOR Upper Sabino Canyon station. 0.51 around Mica MT.

You know it's been a good spring when monsoon rains are contributing to the melting of snow on the peaks... I like that :y:

I know Joe has been itching to see the June numbers so here goes:

It was the 3rd warmest June in Phoenix, largely because the average low temperature was the warmest ever (and by "ever" the NWS means the historically insignificant previous 120 years.)

Phoenix tallied the 10th wettest June, with a whopping .25" of rain.

Yuma had the 2nd wettest June ever (eh, in 139 years) with .33".

Details here: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/psr/pns/2015/Ju ... limate.php

Prescott also had the 2nd wettest June (67 years) with 1.78"
Flagstaff and Winslow were 8th wettest with 1.34" and .72" respectively.
All three northern Arizona stations were in the top 15 warmest Junes.

This is the second time that I can recall that neither Coconino nor Apache-Sitgreaves had to implement fire restrictions. And while there have been a few fires and the season is not yet over, it will be interesting to see the stats for total acres burned this year compared to previous years.

:FG: What an unusual start to the monsoon in the valley! Today marks the third time I've woken to morning storms. Usually I think that happens only once per season. And it's only the beginning of July!

Noticed on my car's thermometer on the way to work this morning that it hit 79 degrees for about 5 minutes. What a nice way to start the day.

30s across the northland! A rarity for July once the monsoon has set in ... Flagstaff set a record last night with a low temperature of 37 degrees! A variety of stations reported readings as low as 35 in the Flagstaff area, GCN, and north rim.

The mountain elevations were a bit warmer, and the White Mountains were also warmer due to more humidity in the eastern part of the state.
