Wandered down in the Valley from Payson and watched a storm develop over the Sierra Ancha's than drift down over Roosevelt Lake. While in Apache Junction the sky had that lake in the sky look and left before the micro burst hit. Visited a few bicycle shops in the East Valley then headed to REI in Tempe left when the storm hit the area. Visited Bass Pro and left when it was raining. Rain gauge at my home in Payson had 1.60 " when I returned.

I tire of rain and humidity. I canceled Humphrey today, due to a forecast change and a higher storm chance. Of course, it will end up dry, but if I went it would dump on me at the saddle. I hate monsoon season, always have, always will. I see no shame it admitting it, and I refuse to pretend I like the rain, humidity, or unpredictable storms.

I love the monsoon...long live the monsoon (and I only have a swamp cooler)!! My total precip for July was 2.46 inches, but it had been pretty deficient in my part of town until I finally got blasted by 1.6 inches of rain in last Tuesday's bomber. Long term monthly average is a little over two inches around here. :D

Here's to an early end to the monsoon, and a swift entry of dry air from the west.

The one thing I'm sure of is that I don't want to live in Minnesota.

Brisk July.

I just noticed that in Phoenix, July 31 snuck in with a 110-degree reading. It was the only time in the entire month it got that warm. Had that day passed without hitting 110, it would have been the first July since 1955 to not have a day of 110 or higher.

The average high in Phx for July 2015 was 105.1, a full degree below the normal July average of 106.1.

Flagstaff reports well over 1.25 inches of rain, and radar estimates show widespread totals of a similar amount in that area, so any drying that happened over the last few weeks should return to wet. It ended up being 1.6 inches for the day.
