Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere

Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

Thanks all!
I decided to not go with something specific to Casa Grande or the Sonoran Desert because who knows how long I will be in CG, but I know I will always be in some desert.

Instead of starting my own thread, I thought I would steal Rob's thunder and announce here that I will be moving to the North West Valley on the 27th of August! Note that I will not be changing my name to "hippiepunkdesertrat" or "valleydwellerpunkpirate".

For some unknown reason, Frank Zappa's tune came to mind (slightly modified of course...)
He's a Valley Dude, for sure for sure!

And we only spent five days together... That's what's spooky! What was it about water seeking it's own level !?

All this really means, Rob, is that you will be closer to the best hiking in AZ - the RINCONS!!

Or the areas of the San Francisco Peaks over 11,500' in winter? :FG: Not in summer, though, but in winter, they're awesome. Me thinks, I'll miss them. :-({|=

Tibber, your to hard on yourself and your fellow hikers, backpackers, photographers, etc..
I look at you all not as rats but reverse that word and consider you stars for all that you experience and share.

:thanx:
And welcome to you Rob to the lower desert, but we are really going to miss your reporting of the Page corner of Arizona....

To be a desert rat is a good thing.
Hard working, drought resistant desert denizens.

Have any Flagstaff-Sedona-Grand Canyon area hikes you plan to hike once more before leaving? What about finally going higher than 12,633'?

If you ever want to feel good about where you live (wherever that may be), just drive through Arizona City south of C.G. Depressed/depressing...
