Howdy HAZers...

I have a permit (8) and am planning an over-nighter out at Cape Solitude (eastern Grand Canyon Rim) on SATURDAY - 10/6.

Committed hikers should plan on 15-16 miles ONE WAY ((w/no water & dry camping)-however; the more peeps we get, the more caching we can do!! :D )

Should be some tremendous sunset/sunrise canyon viewings of confluence area and Chuar Valley.

Friday night will camp at "Desert View Campground" for a reasonably early start on Saturday.

Loving Cape Solitude! Can't believe I actually have signal! Hike was lascivious! The whole "solitude" part is totally misleading

Back home and what a trip! We had the surprise of a lifetime finding Chumley waiting for us at the eight mile mark. He drove in on the res the night before and was waiting for us. He brought some beer and a keg of vodka out to the Cape. Camp last night was a blur for me! I sent the message above right after we started in on cocktails. Man was it fun! I'm glad I was able to hike out today. And oh the view was quite possibly the best I've ever seen. It was jaw dropping! :y:

I'm gonna make it into a Verizon commercial. By their own map, we are firmly planted smack damn in the middle of a huge coverage dead-zone. I was amazed with the coverage. Sometimes even 3G!
