Hey fellow HAZers, my daughter has a science project to study invasive plant species, does anyone know of any place close to Chandler where I can dig up some Buffelgrass and any other invasive grasses?

My hunch is closest would be the Supes or Goldfields. Ideas?

@pixelfrog How about some tamarisk? Plenty of that around.

There are oleanders in Arnett creek that have become pretty invasive, so oleanders wouldn't be hard to find.
Tumbleweeds aka Russian thistle.
Also the giant cane, which can be found at any water source.

There's always Globe Chamomile. It seems to be everywhere this year.

They just did a big oleander removal project out there.

That had to be a drag, they were pretty well rooted in. I had stopped many times and tried to imagine how fun it would be to dig them out of the river rocks. On a side note I kinda hope the date palm stays.

Well, after 12 years there may be some regrowth.

Friends of the Tonto (Google it) is pretty into invasive species work, one of the leaders is the former Tonto NF specialist for such.

I utilized Arizona's Invasive Weeds by Larry D. Howery and Gina Ramos, Editors for a project and the folks from the Tonto National Forest were a big help.
