CDT - Crazy Cook Monument access

With the CDT shuttle companies shut down because of COVID, a couple of friends reached out to me, asking me to drive them to the Crazy Cook Monument - the "official" southern terminus of the Continental Divide Trail (CDT).
Are there any GPS tracks or driving directions on which dirt roads to take to get there?
Google Maps provides "a route", but looking at it in detail... I don't think I want to take that route. It looks very dicy.
I see a "Commodore Road" that leaves the monument, and gets very near Hwy 81, but suddenly veers away "at the last minute". As close as it gets, is this Commodore Road a good one to drive in on?
Any information and help you can provide would be appreciated.
