A friend and I are hoping to start the AZT SOBO in the first week of November. I'll likely depart when we reach Flagstaff to make it home for Thanksgiving, but he hopes to complete the entire trail. I am currently on the mend after breaking my hand this summer. It has limited functionality... can hold hiking polls, pitch a tent, cook, fine motor skills, but would not be much use if I need to scramble or boulder at any point in the Trail. Another primary concern is water access at this time of year.
Any advice in terms of the terrain from passage 43 to 33? Is there any scrambling in these sections?
Any idea how the water supply looks at this time of year on those passages?

No real scrambling on any part of the AZT, really. Those sections tend to be some of the dryer on the trail, so you'll likely be looking at longer carries and dry camping a bit potentially. Mostly 10-15 miles between scuzzy sources, at least one 20ish mile carry, maybe two; we've had a good monsoon this year, though, and some other rain events so it's not bad really. It's late to start SOBO so you'll likely run into some trash weather (which hey, if the snow melts, that could help with water at least) and it will be cold. Unless you like winging things, you'll want to download farout for water data that the current batch of SOBOs are leaving. It'll be a little dated but should give you a good idea if nothing else.
