New to this group....great website...
Just moved here and have been doing some solo hiking and backpacking.
Looking for some friends for company and safety for some day hiking for now. By Sept. I will be able to do some overnight or perhaps multiday backpacking. I love the GC and have done BA and SK. Would repet those or do others in GC but open to any suggestions in AZ or Utah. Thinking of doing a "rim to rim" also.
I'm not working right now so any day is good except I'm doing some on and off contract work which could conflict.
Bill

In response to BillLator's reply: I would love to hike the GC. I have not done so yet. I have over 100 miles of backpacking, I'am a Scout Leader and I would like to go backpacking where I don't have to be responsible for a scout group. I am from Mesa and I work in Overgaard.

In response to ajcanable's reply: Well, I work Weekdays and I can only hike weekends. With some advance planning I could get Friday and or Monday off to go backpacking.

In response to ajcanable's reply: Is it too cold to hike the GC now? Should we wait until spring when its a little warmer? I know its getting cold here lately. How much time would you recommend for the trip say rim to rim?

GC is terrific now through +/- Dec. 15th.
Water will be off soon at 1.5 & 3 mile rest on the B.A.
But hiking the Tonto this time of year is perfect.
re. r to r... +/- 3 hours down the Kaibab to Phantom.... then 5 -6 hrs. /- to North Rim (closed this time of year, through about Memorial Day)

In response to Neil-Hornbeck's reply: We hike in the canyon every winter from Nov-April with my husband doing Rim to Rim in Oct and May. He will be doing a rim to rim to rim next weekend. The winter months are the best (we do day hiking though) and enjoy the less people and the cooler temps.

In response to Dschur's reply: Next weekend do you mean Nov. 8,9? if so, I would like to join him in his hike.
