Also, can anyone point me to a similiar type of back country hike/adventure for springtime?
Any of you guys ever hiked from Bear Flats to Gisila? Is the Tonto creek always as muddy as it was this past weekend? Also, can anyone point me to a similiar type of back country hike/adventure for springtime?
Thanks

I've done tonto creek from hellsgate to gisela (approx 23 miles from begining of hellsgate to gisela). The reason the water is so muddy is because of monsoons, its always like that for a few weeks after the rain. It should be settling down in the next month or so (depending on the rain).
I don't know of anything comparable to this hike in terms of solitude (unless you want to hike in the superstitions, the heat generally keeps people out from may to september). I've heard there are a lot of really nice canyons with swimming and wading similar to tonto around sedona but I've never done much around there.

Thanks, I am so hooked on Arizona and the great amount of outdoor adventure things to do out there.
