Anyone ever use one of these?

Seems like it would be handy. I'm guessing it's similar to the ones used to heat MREs. Do they work well?

I would like to try the heaters with the MRE's. The MRE' heaters release hydrogen gas. I did taste test and I prefer the MRE meals over the freeze dried brands available locally. If I prepare a meal that I need to add water I like the items that you can pick up at any grocery store. I am looking forward to a chilly morning and a cup of hot cocoa on the trail.

I didnt even know these things existed, except in MRE form, which I am all too familiar with. Have you tried one yet? I would love to hear how it worked out for you. GOSH you could leave the entire cookset at home. COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for showing us this.
The ONLY drawback that i could see with this method of cooking is that it takes a little extra water for the heating side that has to be wasted afterward. ( I think)- if water is present not a big deal, on those waterless hike, every drop counts.

I've only talked to people that use the military style versions and they say it works great. I'll get one and see how well it works and relay the results.

I'm thinking the water you have to waste may weigh less then the stove-cookware-gas that this replaces. Sounds like it would be faster and less clean up/set up also.
