Hartwell Canyon
Does anyone know who owns Hartwell Canyon (northwest of Sedona) at this point and if it is accessible to hikers? All I know about it is that Nature Conservancy used to own it, but knows nothing about it now. Was it sold for development?

Here is what I found out.
I went through Google Search and found the Nature Conservancy Website that listed Hartwell Canyon Preserve.
I called the number there and talked with someone in the Flagstaff office.
That person said that the Preserve (only 60 acres) is basically closed and that it's main function was to protect Native American sites which are still used for ceremonies.
He did say that tours are occasionally conducted just a few times a year. He also said that it is under the control of the Prescott office. Their number is (928)-717-2843.
I hope this helps.
