I'm new to kayaking and was looking to take a day trip soon. I'm starting simple, I have a Sevylor inflatable and was hoping to hit Canyon Lake. Does anyone know if I need any liscenses? And, if so, where can I get them?

Boat Licenses

I had to have a license for my non-motorized canoe until about 1996. Then the Game & Fish Dept, which is the issuing agency, decided that as long as you don't use a motor, you don't need a license. The minute you put even a small trolling motor on it, though, you would need one. Probably aren't going to be doing that with your kayak, though!

So you are good to go without any paperwork.

In response to zonagoph's reply:I paddle my kayak out there all the time. No license required for any human powered kayak or canoe on any lake or stream in AZ as far as I know
