February day hiking

Hi - i'm new to this forum and hope I'm placing this question in the right place. We will be in Sedona in mid February and plan to do some day hiking. We did Devil's Bridge and West Fork on another trip. All the hiking guide books give suggested seasons for the trails. But they all say "preferred" months to hike. My question is how much will February weather stop us from hiking? Will we be very restricted? Do I just need to wait til we get there and get some hiking advice at that time? What is the best source for that advice once we arrive. We love elevation and ridge hiking but are open to any type with great views.

It sometimes snows or rains in February in Sedona, but otherwise you should be fine hiking anywhere around there. If there is snow on the ground and you don't want to hike in it you can always go down to a lower elevation, near Cottonwood or Camp Verde. There are trails near those areas as well.

what liz said is true, but to keep it simple without weather charts, it seems the lack of hurricanes season coupled with a warmer mid west winter will bring much snow to arizona. prepare for an excellent ski season. sedona might be buried in Feb.
not a prediction, just wishful thinking come true. (i hope)

snow in sedona usually doesnt survive the first sunny day or two after the snowfall except in shady parts of canyons, Its a great month for short day trips. Just bring clothing suiatbale to several different possibilities. It might be 70 degeees or could be pouring or blizzarding. The good thing about the Verde, is that it might be dumping snow in sedona and be 100% sunshine 16 miles away cottonwood or the canyons east of 1-17, Just remember it gets dark early in February

Dude, I'm ready--my xc skis and boots are within arms reach of where I sit at this very moment. And maybe this will be the winter I'll decide I can afford to try downhill--with lessons--for the first time! (I don't want to go through an entire life without at least trying it, and I ain't gettin' any younger!)
