Escalante River Trip in June

Post by randall »

Hi all,
I'm new to AZ although I have been white-water paddling for over 10 years. I have been interested in doing an Escalante river trip as long as I have been paddling but it has just never happened. This is the year to give it a try.
The trip is 6-7 days. Inflatable kayaks are the craft of choice. A strenuous hike out with all the gear is part of the trip.
I would be willing to co-organize this trip with whoever wants to go. The dates are June 7-14.
If you have some whitewater experience (up to class III), have the ability to portage a kayak, and don't mind spending 7 days in one of the most scenic waterways in North America, let's plan the trip.
I'm looking for a few people who require little or no training. I have a 4x4 which we could use at the take-out.
My wife is working that week and can't go. I'm a teacher and that week is the beginning of summer break. I'm trying to get my younger bro to go but he has a couple of kids and. . . . . .I'm 38 years old, fun, mellow, easy-going.
Anyone????

I've wanted to do that trip for a while now, but my kayaking skills aren't up to anything more strenuous than the lower portion of Glen Canyon yet. Beautiful area to be in...
You aren't going to boat-shuttle the end up to Halls or Bullfrog?
