Does anybody have an interest in doing the Superstition Ridgeline or Battleship Mountain in late December/early January. I am an AZ native coming home for the holidays.

that sounds mighty interesting... I think I'd be able to do the ridgeline, but I'll have to wait for specific dates to commit.

I maybe interested, but when will you be in Phoenix. Me, I'll not be there from December 22 to January 7, it may not suit with your schedule...

I am in Arizona now and I will be here on vacation for at least two weeks. I climbed to the top of Pass Mountain today to warm up and I am looking forward to doing lots of hiking while I am here. I am interested in the Pass Mountain Ridgeline, Battleship Mountain, Peralta Trail/Cave Trail loop, Aylor's Arch, Flatiron, Superstition Peak, Superstition Ridgeline and I would like to hear your suggestions. I am also willing to take a trip down to Tuscon if anyone down there has any good ideas.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do Superstition Ridgeline, but Battleship Mtn is 10 times cooler...IMO. Of course, if you do Superstition Ridegeline then you could easily knock out Superstition Peak, which is on your list too.

Battleship Mountain is definitely on the top of my wish list. I have been wanting to tackle it since the first time I read Fritski's description. Do you want to come with me???

Well, sure, but it depends when. I have this weekend free, but I'll be at the Grand Canyon the following weekend and Joshua Tree NP the weekend after that. When were you looking to go?

Sorry for the delay, I haven't had consistent internet access. I think I am meeting Kurt and some others to do the ridgeline tomorrow. He sent me a message but I haven't been able to get a hold of him. I think I can do Battleship on Sunday. Please call me tomorrow evening if you want to try to work it out. Or if you get this message tonight and call me I will skip the ridgeline and just do Battleship tomorrow or Sunday. Let me know what you think.

I made a mistake and it turns out that they are doing the ridgeline NEXT saturday! lol Tomorrow doesn't look like the best day to do Battleship, there is supposed to be a 40% chance of rain, what do you think? Are there any other days during the next few weeks that you will be available???

Dang dude!
I wish I had seen your reply. I don't usually get on the computer after Friday afternoon because I'm usually starting my weekend by then. So...I'm not available till the last weekend of this month (26-27). Today would have been perfect, rain or not. The weather is never a factor in deciding to hike or not, unless it's going to be really hot (in my case, more than 90 degrees). Maybe we can try again.

This was a perfect day for the Ridgeline. Next time we'll do it in bad weather.

It was a perfect day and thanks again for everything. Let's do Battleship tomorrow, it is totally worth taking a day off. Call me.

It might be fun to do the Battleship from Canyon Lake T/H. Up LaBarge to the box, then up onto the stern, out to the bow and then back either via LaBarge again or drop into Boulder Canyon for the return...
I'm game for the trek. Tomorrow might work, but Friday might be better for me.

Right on! That sounds like a winner. I was planning on going back home Friday, but this is definitely worth waiting for.

Especially if we drop into Boulder Canyon from the B.C. Trail just south of the T/H it will be a wet hike - plan accordingly with changes of clothes/socks, etc.. Heading up Labarge should be 'less' wet, once we reach it.
What does everyone (who wants to go) say to truck-pooling from the south end of Home Depot pkg. lot @ 7:30AM Friday?

I may have to take Friday off as a preventative measure. I'll know for sure tomorrow. 7:30am Friday would work for me.

ut: My lungs couldn't hang with the six hour ridgeline crew at this point (or likely any point

)
Have fun!
