I have been in the process of figuring out where my next overnight trip is going to be and I saw the trail description for Hellsgate  in the Tonto National Forest. But I was wondering if it is open for backpacking or not?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations, points of interests, or warnings to mention your help would be greatly appreciated!

Plenty of info

Take a peek at a few other postings on this subject for better info - these threads are primary current sources. The Flora, Fauna, Weather & Fire forum has the most current information:

Trail Chat > Whats Open?

Flora, Fauna, Weather & Fire > AZ Forest - Closed

Or you can check out these links:

I think that the Hells Gate wilderness is part of the Tonto Nat Forest and is in the portion that is closed. Of course a call to the park rangers would be the best way to get up-to-the-minute information on that (the link to Tonto has some contact info on the web page).
