Hey...am planning on trying to do the Six Shooter Trail next Friday (since highs Friday are STILL at 100 here in Phoenix!).

But I have a question...the statistics say this hike roundtrip is 9.4 miles, but the red box at the top of the trip description says it's 6 miles one way. What am I missing?

Also, for those of you who have done these 4 trails out there, would you agree that this one has the most established trail of the 4? (Icehouse Canyon Trail, Kellner Canyon Trail, Six Shooter Canyon, Telephone Trail #192)?

It's 6.0 miles one-way. The summary on that page is down to the old road and back.

Basically, the lower portion is not as popular as the upper.

They're all descent trails and occasionally used by bikers. Ice House tops off pretty steep. It's a great area to hike in about a month when Autumn dances through the trees.

My guess is you could do them all in one day. I went up Telephone and down Sixshooter in only about 3 hours I think. You could go up Kellner and return Icehouse I think in maybe a little more time.

You did Telephone and Sixshooter in 3 hours???? That is quite impressive.

I started from the bottom on telephone, from the intersection I came back down sixshooter, I didn't do that 0.5 mile 1000 foot section twice, that makes it less impressive.

I remember that steep section on Telephone. That was tough.

I'd recommend Sixshooter if I had to choose just one. I did a Sixshooter-Pinal Peak-Icehouse loop with rljamy last weekend. We went up Sixshooter to the top, then over to Pinal Peak, then down Icehouse Canyon. 14.7 miles with 4800 of AEG. It took us about 7 hours. I did manage to take about 300 pictures, but we were moving pretty good otherwise.
